A Mix of Old and New as Paradise Dynasty Opens in Podium Mall

April 11, 2018 by Richard

Paradise Dynasty recently opened their 2nd branch at the new Podium Mall. We tried a mix of old and new dishes, which are currently only available in Podium but will be available in the S Maison branch soon. Decor at the new branch is slightly different with more of a modern Chinese feel to it.

Charcoal Salted Egg Custard Lava Bun (P188). Soft buns filled with liquid salted egg custard so be careful with the first bite. One of the better ones available in Manila.

Pork Dumpling with Hot Chili Vinaigrette (P168). I had these before but seemed my taste buds remembered them as tasting spicier. Two bite dumplings lathered with a appetizing chili vinaigrette. Good as starter or paired with your bowl or rice.

Lettuce Roll with Sesame Sauce (P288). This is my favorite appetizer at Paradise Dynasty and have ordered it every time we eat there. Simple but fresh and delicious, spinach tied up into pretty rolls with a side of nutty sesame dip.

Chilled Baby Spinach with Vermicelli (P238).

Chilled Tofu with Century Egg (P188). A common appetizer but executed differently, the tofu is served as sliced discs instead of a block but I would enjoyed it more if the century egg were bigger pieces.

Kung Pao Chicken (P298). Chicken cubes stir fried with cashews and chili with just the right amount of heat.

La Mian with Scallion (P200). My appreciation for the simplicity of this dish has evolved. The noddles are still firm but has the qq texture I love. The flavors of the crispy scallions and dried shrimp were more pronounced balanced out by the simple chicken broth on the side.

Crystal Prawns Tossed with Salted Egg Yolk (P588). I usually just get a piece of prawn with salted egg yolk because they are cloying. I could not get enough of these and probably could have finish a whole order all by myself.

Stir-fried Shredded Pork in Black Bean Sauce served with Chinese Crepes (P388). The crepes have improved from the last time we had this dish, it’s chewier and holds the sweetish pork well.
Pan Fried Pumpkin Pastry (P138). An intriguing dessert that is a bit similar to piaya, chewy texture with unmistakable pumpkin flavor.
