Paris Delicé : Paris just around the corner.

February 22, 2011 by Richard

Paris Delicé translated to English means Paris delicious. A 2 meter tall Eiffel tower beckons you to sample a slice of Paris. We’ve passed the store many a times along Makati Ave.but one thing or another has derailed our endeavor to try it out.Last weekend, Irene and I were finally able to grab a snack there.

On the side of the counter were different juices and salads but Irene was immediately drawn to the pastries they had on display especially the Pain au Chocolat. We quickly placed our orders and proceeded to our seats at their nicely decorated booths.

Le Lellois (P145). A six inch French Baguette has chicken strips added to the usual BLT. I did not realize it was going to be served in a baguette since I do not like them but since it was there I ate it anyway. It was quite good crusty bread but soft inside.I like the crispy bacon but the chicken could use a little more seasoning.

Croque Monsieur (P115) Irene’s hot sandwich which she liked very much. She gave me a little slice and I liked it more than my order. You could really taste the butter brushed on top as well as the cheese in the middle. Yummy, I’m torn between ordering this next time or the Filipinized version which uses sausages called Croque Manille.

On to dessert, Irene of course had the Mini Pain au Chocolat (P35) while I had the Chouquette (P25). We each took one bite of the pain au chocolat and we were nodding our heads and looking at the counter counting how many pieces they have left.  The pastry was super flaky, you could literally fell each layer with a bite.
The chouquette on the other hand was a little sweeter owing to the sugar crystals on top top and the surprise taste of light custard inside. A dessert made for me, I could pop one after another.
We took home 4 pieces of chouquette, 3 mini pain au chocloat and a regualr sized pain au chocolat (P60). I guess you could tell we really liked it. Lauren had a bite at home of the pain au chocolat and quickly polished it off.
Looking for a place with wonderful sandwiches and pastries, free wi-fi to boot, then look no further and give Paris Delicé a try. Comfortable seats and classy decor gives an air of relaxation. We will definitely be back
