PLDT Home recently launched the newest upgrade to the Telpad. It now sports a Quad Core processor that run Android 4.12 Jellybean. I got a chance to play around with the units capabilities during the media launch at Vyne in BGC. This is the 5th version of the Telpad which has over 100,000 subscribers nationwide.
We were also given 3 tickets to immerse ourselves in the different booths of Watch, Listen and Play.
I love the table decorations with items from popular movies like this one from Miss Congeniality. There was also ones for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Memoirs of a Geisha, Harry Potter and Peter Pan.
It was a fun filled event with three special booths where I got to play games for a chance at winning some prizes. The top-notchers from these different booths would go up against PLDT Home Telpad‘s newest brand ambassadors, The Kramers, in a head to head match for even more prizes.
The first booth I tried was the Game, no surprises there since I love playing video games. I got to play Need For Speed Hot Pursuit from EA Games with a telpad connected to a high definition LCD screen. I was really surprised to find out the telpad could do that. Each movement on my screen was perfectly mirrored on the tv, no hiccups, no slowdowns.
I next tried the Watch booth, showcasing the ease with which you can download movies on the telpad. I got to play a “Guess the Movie Trailer” game. I was shown a number of different trailers, unlucky me got a number of chick flicks where the titles escaped me leading to a lousy time. they still gave me a consolation prize.
The last booth I played in was the Listen booth where I had to play “Name That Tune“. I knew I was in trouble when they told me it was going to be filled with new songs. Maybe if it was made up of 80s and 90s songs I might have had a chance.
My favorite booth was the one for WATCH with large comfy chairs and couches plus popcorn.
I also noticed that it was so easy to connect a telpad to your home entertainment system, just 2 cables and you can Watch, Listen and Play on the big screen.
They also announced the newest brand ambassadors of PLDT Home Telpad, The Kramers.
The Quad Core telpad comes preloaded with a number preloaded apps; Spinnr (powered by SMART Music), the hottest games from EA Games (The Sims, Monopoly), Clickplay for the latest on demand movies, News5 Everywhere for current events and MyPinoyTV with its Filipino and Asian soap operas. They are also planning to add new applications in the future like; educational apps, digital newspapers, magazines and textbooks, more entertainment apps plus an update to the heyÜ, PLDTs VOIP service app. I hope they also consider adding cooking or recipe apps so families can get even more out of it.
PLDT Home Telpad Plans start at P1,649 which comes with a 1.5 Mbps connection and a Telpad, to as high ast P4100 which has an 8.5 Mbps DSL connection and a Telpad.
