Rice and Dough is the new concept by Torch which specializes in sushi and pizza. It’s located in Venice Grand Canal, the new development in McKinley Hill that comes with gondola rides ala Venice, Italy.
There’s some Torch favorites that sneaked it’s way into the carb heavy menu but there are still lots of new surprises.
Parmecorn On A Cob (P139). Start with something corny an cheesy. Grilled corn with cayenne pepper and Parmesan cheese plus cheese sauce on the side.
Crispy Nori Chicken Wings (P295). Sweet, spicy and salty plus a heavy does of umami. Perfect sharing starter.
Truffle Bacon Cheeseburger Sushi (P450). A Japanese/American crossover, so interesting looking you can’t help but take a photo. Mini truffle and bacon burger patties with, cheese, alfalfa sprouts and tomatoes. I dare you not to take out your camera and snap a pic of this one.
Perfect Catch (P340). Raw salmon, cream cheese and nori rolled with panko crumbs, fried then topped with bonito flakes and unagi aoili cream. Our favorite dish of the meal, lots of contrasting textures and punchy flavors except for the cream cheese which lacked real flavor. The sauce was an afterthought because we never found the need.
World War Roll (P400). This wins the award for pomp and performance. A soft shelled crab, unagi kani and tamgo roll topped with battered shrimp. The waitstaff will come over and light the surrounding “hay” on fire resulting in some burnt sushi roll ends. I’d skip this and get another order of the perfect catch.

Rice and Dough has 11 pizza options for you to choose from. The Tartufata (P460) has bacon, bell peppers, Parmesan cheese and truffle oil. The Proscuittina (P416) has proscuitto and brie while the Funghi (P480) is topped with shiitake and button mushrooms plus Gorgonzola cheese.
If none of their pre made pizzas are to your liking then you can go the DIY Pizza (P496) route. They give you a little sheet you can pick your topping and even name it like our “True Love” pizza. They also have a DIY sushi (P496) option for the more adventurous, tasty combination not guaranteed.
For heftier appetites, Rice and Dough has the Grilled Salt and Pepper Meltique Rib Eye (P880) and Jabanaero Baby Back Ribs (P495). The steak is cooked table side on a sizzle stone platter and is ok. The ribs were tender with a tasty sauce.
Over the meat dishes I’d recommend the Seared Nori Chilean Sea Bass with Garlic Miso Butter (P800). A holdover from the menu of Torch, so good you even mind that it’s fish.
Rice and Dough is a nice place to satisfy your carb cravings, there’s lots of interesting dishes plus the diy pizza as well as diy sushi options.
