Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory opens their first store today, Dec. 17, 2015 at the UP Town Center. Rocky Mountain is a popular chocolate shop from Durango, Colorado. The UP Town Center store is their first in South East Asia.
For opening day, they will be selling caramel apples for only P20 (usp P210) to the 1st 100 customers. What a great deal.
Irene and I first encountered Rocky Mountain in downtown Vancouver, we were enthralled by rows upon rows of big and beautiful caramel apples. Once we stepped inside the store, we were tempted by the aroma of freshly cooked caramel. We bought one to try and have been hooked ever since. In store caramel and fudge making is a signature of Rocky Mountain, watching them make it is a joy.
They only use Granny Smith apples to make their signature caramel apples, the tart flavor balances the sweetness of the caramel.
Caramel apple is the basic product which they then add toppings, chocolate, candies, nuts and other toppings to make all their variants.
Here’s one of their caramel apples, cut up, you can see how thick the caramel is. This is why we love Rocky Mountain, the caramel is thick and chewy and is the best caramel apple we’ve ever had so far. During our last trip to Toronto, Irene tried a different brand because it was cheaper but ending up not finishing it because it could not compare to Rocky Mountain.
Here are some of their variants, ready to be placed inside the display counter. Our favorite variant is the Peanut Caramel Apple, the peanuts add a bit of crunch to compliment the chewy caramel.
Rocky Mountain might be our go to place for caramel apple but they have a wide selection of chocolate creations also.
Irene is ecstatic that Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory has opened in the Philippines. She can have her favorite caramel apple anytime and at a cheaper price, P250 locally compared to about P300 in Canada. I suggested they open in Estancia Mall so they’ll be much closer to us.
