Last December, I got a surprise delivery from Geicks, it was a Rodillas Caramel Chocolate Cake. I love caramel cake but a lot of times they are too sweet for my taste.
The initial impression I got was this might be one of those overly sweet ones, being covered in caramel and then to top it off, had chocolate shavings, but I kept my taste buds open.
I sliced a piece off to try, hmm, gooey caramel sauce all over. Nothing eaten, nothing tasted, so I wen ahead and cut a piece and placed it into my mouth….. its not what I expected at all.
The chiffon inside was mocha flavored, a big plus since I love mocha. Aside from the caramel sauce covering the outside there is a layer of it hidden in between the chiffon. A big plus is that the caramel was not sweet, seems this is a trend with Rodillas cakes.
The chocolate topping was of the dark variety so does not add any sweetness to the overall flavor but adds a pure chocolate taste.
I daresay I like this more than the yema cake before, the mocha chiffon tipped the scale for me and each part works seamlessly with each other to produce one mouth watering creation
