Shang Palace Dimsum Plus

August 18, 2010 by Richard

I had one the best dimsum lunches ever at Shang Palace. We called a day ahead to reserve a table for the four. Our main purpose was to avail of their Dimsum Plus promo. We thought is was mostly a dimsum buffet, but in actuality it is so much more hence the plus. We were give a small menu that contained 20 dimsum items, 6 appetizers, 3 soups, 6 rice/noodles, 4 vegetables and 7 desserts, all of which we can order to our tummy’s content. We were also told to choose one main course per person.

We started looking at the choices and ordering the dimsum we wanted, the waiter also informed us that all dimsum orders are per piece, very good if you just want to have variety.

Soon after our orders stated coming out one after another. The stars of the meal was the Shrimp Dumpling (Ha-kao) and the Pork and Shrimp Siomai. The shrimp dumpling had two whole shrimps encased in a  flour wrapper so thin its almost translucent. The shrimps inside were so crispy you could feel the freshness in every bite. The siomai, made you wish all siomai were devoid of extenders, pure meat with a whole shrimp and surprise shrimp roe on top.

I also loved the Deep Fried Taro Puff with Scallops and the Hot Prawn salad, Irene’s choice for main course.
Other people can have their hotel buffets with their countless number of dishes, I on the other hand will stick with my Dimsum plus for P995 net. I get to sit down and relax and be served by excellent waiters. No need to get up and line up. Food quality is also much much higher since all the food is done on per order basis, no sitting in the chafing dish for some time.

I can’t wait to go back again with other members of “the club”.

if you have the senses card and there’s only 2 or 3 of you dining, meaning 33% off, i don’t think the buffet is worth it since it doesn’t accept the discount card. cheaper to go ala carte. unless you can really really eat a lot!
