Spice and Cleaver is a restaurant in Estancia Mall, Capitol Commons, that specializes in sausages and steak. Irene and I have been eyeing the place for a while but it was always packed but we finally got a chance during an early lunch date.
The place is nice and cozy with lots of wood and steel accents to push the artisanal feel.
We ordered two sausages, The Mexican (P280) and Mamasan (P280), both pork sausages so perfect for Irene. The Mexican is a sauasage flavored with cilantro, sun dried tomatoes, and chili and served with house made sauerkraut and virgin mashed potatoes. The Mamasan is a Chang Mai pork sausage flavored with curry paste, chili and kaffir lime leaves and served with virgin mashed potatoes. Of the two, I enjoyed the mamasan more because the flavors were stronger but necessarily spicy and overpowering. The sausages has a nice snap when you bite into them and serving size was pretty good. Sauerkraut was good but I could not fathom why they called the mashed potatoes virgin.
They give you a choice of 3 sauces for the sausages but my pick is the sweet mustard.
We tried one of their puffiza, puff pastry base with pizza toppings hence the name. We got the Miss Piggy (P399), which comes with a pesto base and topped with salami, Italian sausage, pork face, forest ham and bacon. The crust had many layers and was crisp and crumbly. A meat lovers dream, the flavors were great but it was super oily.
We went back another time with my family to try the place out but some of things we had were not good at all like their Halibut fish and chips. They was so bad, Lauren refused to eat it.
I would go back for just the sausages and I heard the burger and steaks were also well recommended. Prices are on the high side.
