Sukiya Restaurant in Kansai International Airport, Osaka

February 13, 2015 by Richard

Arriving at around 9pm in Kansai International Airport in Osaka. Our party decided to get some food first instead of going straight to our hotel, Chisun Inn. We bought only water on our Cebu Pacific flight so we were feeling famished. We did not know the area around the hotel so it was better to keep our stomachs full.

After clearing customs and picking up our bags, we headed to the Dining Court (food court) located on the 2nd floor. There’s a dining court on each side with the restaurants located inside prominently displayed on the board as well as on the lighted map.

It was a bit late already so most of the restaurants were either closed already or cleaning up.

We kept walking and found Sukiya Restaurant and was so happy to discover that it was open 24 hours. Sukiya is a chain of restaurants that specializes in gyudon, donburi (rice toppings) and curry. We got in line and ordered quickly so we could get on the train and head to the hotel with a full stomach.

Sukiya Kansai Airport Osaka Gyudon with Kimchi

Our friend, grace, got a bowl of Kimchi Gyudon (¥480 or P180). She added cold tofu and miso soup for (¥150 or P57). I was not able to taste this but she said it was delish.

The three of us got a bowl each with Lauren getting extra karaage and miso soup.

Irene got a bowl of Chicken Teriyaki Don (¥340 or P127) she was very happy with. Lauren had a bowl of Kids Gyudon (¥200 or P75). She added a serving of Karaage and Miso soup (¥150 or P57) in case the gyudon was not to her liking. She liked both and quickly finished everything saved for a piece of karaage which I begged to try. It was nice and crunchy but I wanted more ginger flavor.

Sukiya Kansai Airport Osaka Gyudon with Cheese

This was my order of 3 Cheese Gyudon (¥480 or P180). The classic beef bowl topped with two kinds of shredded cheese and finished with a heap of cheese sauce. Can you say cheese heaven! You won’t be sharing this bowl anytime soon, tell your companion to get their own.

We were so hungry we forgot to ask for an English menu and just pointed to the pictures on the Japanese menu. Food is visual so minus a few of the wrong sizes we were happy with our orders.

The food at Sukiya Restaurant was generous, served fast and delicious. We also ate at Yoshinoya a few days after and all agreed that Sukiya was better. We were so happy about our super reasonable meal to find out it was even cheaper outside the airport. I don’t think you can even get this high quality fast food meal at these prices here. We even saw a branch near the hotel but skipped it since we already tried it at the airport.
