Sweet Ecstasy Katipunan

December 28, 2015 by Richard

Sweet Ecstasy Katipunan 02

I’ve been meaning to visit Sweet Ecstasy in Jupiter for a long time but one thing or another always derails my well laid plans. One of the barriers has always been that there’s no air conditioning, this is the Philippines and weather is hot and humid most of the times.

To my delight, they recently opened a branch in Regis Center, indoors with plenty of parking. We took advantage of the holiday a few weeks ago to venture to Katipunan. Irene tagged along after I told her Sweet Ecstasy also serves chicken wings.

The place was pretty packed when we got there but we got the last table available. Ordering is done in the counter at the end of the restaurant.

Sweet Ecstasy Katipunan Menu

Here’s their menu with corresponding prices but they also have an off menu steamed burger which I also ordered.

Sweet Ecstasy Katipunan Ecstasy Fries

I got a plate of Ecstasy Fries (P130) to start with. Freshly fried fries covered with caramelized onions, cheese and ecstasy sauce. Skip this one, it tasted like old school sandwich spread on top of the fries. Not bad but nothing worth the calories, you might be better off getting plain fries or the recommended onion rings (I found out after my visit).

Sweet Ecstasy Katipunan Sriracha Lime Wings

Sweet Ecstasy Katipunan Soy Honey Wings

I got 2 orders of wings for Irene, the Sriracha Lime Wings (P245) and the Soy Garlic Wings (P245). The serving size of each wing piece is on the large size, well fried and coated in sauce. The problem we encountered is that it was too big for its own good. The flavors were all concentrated on the outside so after you take a bite there almost no flavor left unless you re dip it in the drippings.

Sweet Ecstasy Katipunan Cheeseburger

Sweet Ecstasy Katipunan Steamed Burger

First timers dilemma on what to order solved by ordering both of my choices. I got one Cheeseburger (195) and one Steamed Burger. Both burgers have a soft brioche bun and uses freshly ground beef. The cheeseburger has lettuce, tomatoes and onions and is cooked the usual way. The steamed burger has onions, cheese and mustard. The mustard skews the flavor a bit but you can still taste the beefiness of the patty. Both are excellent burgers and I really enjoyed wolfing them down.

I still can’t decide which I like more. I think I’ll need to do more research by myself to determine which one I prefer. This is one of the best burgers in Manila and is at par with the burger from The Beef in Hole in The Wall albeit smaller so cheaper.
