Taste the World at Pepper Lunch + Giveaway

I always associate Pepper Lunch with Japanese flavors because of the aroma and the spices they’ve been known for. Starting Feb. 1, 2015, they’ll be doing something a little different for their regular as well as new diners. They’ve cooked up three familiar dishes from other cuisines made the Pepper Lunch way.

The first one we tried was the Burrito Beef Pepper Rice (P255). Even before the hot plate arrive on the table we could smell the Mexican spices especially cumin in the air. Look at the lovely color of the plate, like a party for your eyes with red, green and yellow. It’s got everything in a burrito except for the wrap. There’s some salsa of corn and tomatoes on the side, which they hopefully add more because it balances the strong flavors of the spices.

They even added red kidney beans for a healthy and “explosive” kick.  As is the spices make it a bit hard to for me to finish a whole order.

Next up was the Bulgogi Beef Pepper Rice (P255). It’s something that is tailor made for Pepper Lunch, the cooking process is virtually identical.

They’ve even made it more Korean with a scoop of large beansprouts and kimchi on top of the rice. As with any pepper rice dish, liberal mixing is a must to ensure all the flavors are evenly distributed. I’m not really fond of kimchi but I’m good if it’s mixed in rice. The sweet and salty bulgogi beef meshed really well with the sour and very slightly spicy kimchi to ensure a plethora of flavors. I have to say this was my favorite of the trio and had I had space in my tummy I would’ve have eaten more.

The Bistecca Beef Pepper Rice (P255) was the last of trio of limited time offerings we tried. It reminded me of the Italian lamb steak from last Christmas but also has echoes of the Tagliata de Manzo of Cibo with the abundant rosemary on top. Slivers of olives are also sprinkled on top to add to the Italian flavors.
