The iconic Taal Vista Hotel is popular for its beautiful views of Taal Volcano and it’s Cafe Veranda buffet with cultural show but it’s the fairly new Taza Fresh Table that is worthy of your calories. Located away from the main building in between the new and old wings of the hotel complex sits this beautiful gazebo structure. Taza Fresh Table serves a Mediterranean leaning cuisine mixed in with other familiar dishes all using as much local produce as they can, sourced from the Tagaytay environs. They even utilize herbs from a garden behind the swimming pool.
We started off dinner with a Mezze Starter Set (P700/ 4 choices). You can pick 4 from the 7 available choices or just order each one ala carte. We enjoyed the spinach with bacon jam and the chorizo with garlic.
Watermelon Salad (P295). A refreshingly salad bursting with sweetness from the watermelon in addition to the romaine lettuce, kesong puti, cashews, chickpeas, pancetta and a tart calamansi dressing. Pretty and delicious.
Beef Stroganoff (P525). A very popular dish from eons past that I’ve hardly seen in any modern menu. Home made papardelle, mushrooms, onions, cream, truffle oil and tender beef pieces.
Papardelle Bolognese (P520). If red sauce is your preference, this all beef raguot, tomato and herb pasta should be your pick. Well made with no shortcuts means you enjoy the simple ingredients as they are meant to be.
The Kale and Bacon Pizza (P400) is a yin yang of healthy and indulgent. If green is really not your color then you can request them to remove the kale like Lauren and get a bacon pizza. Nice tasty crust that has just the right amount of chewiness and still have a nice crisp to it.
Roasted Market Fish (P995). Fresh catch of the day with olives, balsamic, roasted garlic, lemon and olive oil.
Tomahawk Pork Chop (P800). This is my pick for must order main at Taza Fresh Table. A humongous piece of bone in pork chop doused with a caramelized onion, banana and pork jus. Just order a side of carbs and this will be good enough for 2 people.
- Olive Oil Ice cream
- Napoleon
- Molten chocolate Cake

For dessert we had a trio of Olive Oil Ice cream (P215), Napoleon (P225) and Molten Chocolate Cake (P225). The olive oil ice cream has a light olive oil flavor but it was the glazed Tagytay pineapples that elevated the dish. The napoleon was a bit different with its use of barako coffee sauce.

- Danggit
- Home Made Jams

Taza Fresh Table also offers a less hectic and more compact breakfast service. If you are booked in a room, you can upgrade your regular buffer to a one served there. You still get most of your breakfast favorites like cereals, salads, juices and of course bacon plus a choice of one breakfast main dish.
- Homemade Bacon
- Chicken and Waffles
- Buttermilk Pancakes
- French Toast
- Eggs Benedict
- 3 Egg Omelette

You have one choice from Homemade Bacon, Chicken and Waffles, Buttermilk Pancakes, French Toast, Eggs Benedict and 3 Eggs Omelette to complement your buffet choices. My picks are the bacon, french toast (some of the best I’ve ever had), and chicken and waffles. You can’t go wrong with any of the choices.
I guarantee you’ll be as full as if partaking of the regular buffet but much more relaxed.
