Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, voted No. 1 burger in Hawaii and Seattle, recently opened their 2nd store in the Philippines at the 6/F of Shangri-la Plaza Mall. It takes over the space beside Starbucks on the ledge area in the Main Wing.
The space is more spacious than their first store and feels more comfortable. The Hawaiian vibe is still there, ordering is still done at the counter and burgers are still made only upon order.
We started off tasting the new all day breakfast line which included all sorts of pancake plates. You can have them Classic (P179) with caramel sauce, whipped cream and powdered sugar. Other variations of these include the Macnut Vanilla (P199), Banana Peanut Butter (P219), Blueberry (P229) and Strawberry (P229). I found the pancakes generously sized, chewy and tasty. I’ve brought our resident pancake monster, Irene to try it out and she’s given them her approval.
People that love Teddy’s bigger burger patties but want rice served with it will love the The Big Loco Moco (P299). The loco moco is a contemporary dish in Hawaii that has a bed of rice, a burger patty, fried egg and drenched in brown gravy. Teddy’s has a variation that is my pick for the better deal, The Western Loco Moco (P329). It has 3 extra bacon strips and 3 onion rings all for only P30 additional. I love this so much, I went back and skipped the burgers and had myself a plate of the western loco moco. It’s filling and oh so tasty.
They’ve also introduced a line of branch specific burgers like 3 new ones that are only available in the Shangri-la Mall branch. You just need to add a specified amount to any burger order.
The Samurai Burger (+P89) is a Japanese inspired burger with nori strips, crispy sweet potato hay, mayo and teriyaki sauce. I found this one weird tasting and would advise you to skip it in favor of the other exclusive burgers.
The Elvis Burger (+P49) is of course inspired by Elvis Presley who loved adding peanut butter to his burgers. The Elvis has strips of bacon, banana slices and peanut butter in addition to the usual toppings. I was eyeing this one weirdly, “peanut butter in a burger???”. I finally summoned up the courage to try it and was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it. It’s sweet and nutty and gives the burger a unique taste.
For those who want something spicy, the Bandito Burger (+P39) is for you. A heap of cheese sauce and jalapeno peppers are added to gives this burger a goooey zing.
I’m happy Teddy’s Bigger Burgers has opened nearer to us so I can have more of that loco moco. Irene has another option for orders also with the pancakes which I bet Lauren will enjoy also.
