Tendon Akimitsu is a franchise from Asakusa, Tokyo specializing in tendon. The local franchise is a sister company of Ramen Nagi and currently has 3 branches with the branch at The 30th the most recent opening. The store is also a combo Ramen Nagi – Tendon Akimitsu store so you can order from both menus.
Spicy Salmon Sashimi (P250). I love this rendition of spicy salmon sashimi, it has the right amount of spiciness but it’s still creamy and has lots of different textures. The salmon cubes were firm and fresh too but that wedge of lemon is puzzling though.
Aburi Salmon Maki (P490). This was quite disappointing, there was just something not right with the flavor, probably because of the over abundant mayo. Skip this and order 2 of the spicy salmon sashimi instead.
Tendon-Ha (P615). This was my tendon choice, rice bowl topped with anago eel, prawn, vegetables and kaikiage tempura. The batter they use is a little different from the super crackling ones most of us are used to. It’s a bit softer but that works well with the tare sauce. The anago eel is the star of this bowl, firm meat and about 5 inches big. The serving size was generous enough I found it hard to finish it all.
Udon Set (P300). Irene got this set that comes with dessert and appetizer. A bowl of hot udon with nori strips in shoyu broth with a basket of 2 pcs of prawn tempura on the side. We love that the tempura is served on the side so it won’t get soggy. If udon is not for you, they also have a soba set.
Ebi Tempura (P470). This was Lauren’s additional order after finishing off a bow of Butao ramen. There’s 5 pieces or prawn tempura plus the usual seasonal vegetables. Lauren finished all the prawn and generously offered the vegetables for me. I particularly liked the okra and sweet potato but passed on the eggplant.
Want some snacks to bring home, they’ve got a stall with different flavored Nagi chips outside.
We all enjoyed our Tendon Akimitsu experience and the option to order Ramen Nagi is a big bonus. Since it’s so close to us, we’ve already been back another time. Extra bonus is we know one of the servers who used to work at nearby Korean resto Jang Ga Nae.
