TGIFriday‘s keeps the fun going by adding a new set of Tex-Mex dishes to its extensive menu. I got an invite to visit their newest branch in Greenbelt 3 to try them out. The TGIFriday’s store occupies the previous space of National Sports Grill including the al fresco area.
The new branch is the first to get the new look that will be slowly rolled out to the other branches. Gone are the dark pub look of previous TGIFriday’s and now replaced with a lighter shades of wood. The decor has also been updated that exudes a younger feel.
These baseball bats that line up together showing the New York City skyline is my favorite decor piece.
Eating with a group is so much more better because I get to try different dishes without food being wasted. Our group started with an overflowing plate of Chili Ball Park Nachos (P495). Crispy yellow and red nacho chips are covered in cheese sauce and chili, get more gooey cheese sauce to make this even better.
The next dish, Tostada Nachos (P495), is quite similar in taste to the one from Chili’s except for the shape of the nacho chip ( half moon versus triangle). You also get to add the usual sour cream and salsa to the top.
The BBQ Pork Tacos (P475) was second favorite after the ball park nachos. Chopped pork tenderloin basted with a sweet and spicy bbq sauce then added to flour tortillas filled with Pepper Jack cheese, crispy onions and loads of cilantro. BBQ sauce plus the cilantro makes this a winner in my book, the tender pork is a plus.
The Ranchero Chicken Enchilada (P495) was the dish I was excited for because I love enchilada, which is basically a drenched in cheese wrapped taco. The enchilada is served with the scene stealing chorizo rice which was actually better than the quite spicy chicken enchilada.
The dish I least liked was the Smoked Salmon Quesadilla (P345). The use of smoke salmon is quite unusual and I felt not really jives with the flavor I was looking for.
These new additions to TGIFriday’s menu gives diners more choices especially if they are leaning towards the Tex-Mex flavors. Be sure to get a bottle or two of beer as these dishes are a perfect match. TGIF Fridays actually has a By 1 Take 1 promo for Corona Extra beer if you order any of the Tex-Mex dishes
