January 6, 2015 by Richard

Here’s a little recap of 2014 with some of most enjoyable dining experiences. I was blessed to have been able to try so many new restaurants with some awesome dining companions. Hoping for an even better 2015.

A new restaurant that has injected a bright new vibe in Shangri-la Plaza’s Main Wing serving bistro fare. Be sure to order the Maple Candied bacon, Potato Pave, Duck Confit and the Hake.

Yoree Korean BBQ

1-6 Foum South Global
7th Avenue cor. 25th Street, Bonifacio Global City
Taguig City, Philippines
Contact No.: (632) 866-0432

Not your hole in the wall, noisy Korean bbq place. This is refined Korean dining with options for set menus (min of 2) with mini versions of different dishes.

Tipple and Slaw

2/F The Forum BGC

More popular as a bar, the place has some wonderful eats like home made chicken nuggets, giant savory and sweet sandwiches plus that addictive home made barbecue sauce inspired by McDonald’s.

Patricios Cevicheria BGC Ceviche Shooters

Patricio’s Cevicheria

Taguig City, Philippines
Contact No.: (632) 998-7274/ (63917) 850-8817

A place that specializes in ceviche, kilawin and all it’s many forms. A bit off the happening center of BGC, it’s simple surroundings and decor leaves the highlight to the food.

Tuantuan Chinese Brasserie SM Mega Fashion Hall Nai Cha

TuanTuan Chinese Brasserie

3/F, SM MegaMall Fashion Hall
Edsa cor. Julia Vargas Ave.,
Ortigas, Mandaluyong City,
Metro Manila
Contact No.: (02) 570-9011

The place to get your fix of authentic HK Milk Tea, Coffee or Yuanyang plus my favorite baked pork buns in Manila. Their halibut noodles soup offer plenty of combinations pared with an order of their honey pork spareribs. Service is a bit of a letdown though.

Munchtown

Unit 202 Upper Level, Promenade 2
Greenhills Shopping Center
San Juan, Philippines
Telephone No.: (02) 565-4291

Munchtown serves elevated movie house food for people who want more than the usual popcorn and soda. Juicy burgers, freshly made french fries and some creative hotdogs. Best of all, you can have the food delivered right to your cinema seats.

St Marc Cafe SM Megamall Curry Bread Yuzu Custard

St. Marc Cafe

Upper Ground Floor, SM Megamall Fashion Hall
Edsa cor. Julia Vargas Ave.,
Ortigas, Mandaluyong City,
Metro Manila
Contact No.: (632) 531-8062

St. Marc Cafe is a popular pastry and coffee shop known for their ChocoCro. They serve a lot of dessert variations using their pastries as well as Nissei soft serve ice cream. I recommend the Little Fuji and of course the original and limited time ChocoCro variants.

Shang Palace Weekend Yum Cha Cart

Shang Palace Weekend Buffet

2/F Makati Shangri-la Hotel Manila,
Ayala Ave., cor Makati Ave.,
Makati City, Philippines
Telephone Number: (632) 813-8888

Shang Palace brings back dimsum like the old days with their special steam carts roving around the restaurant transporting baskets of treats.  There are over 40 different dimsum choices plus live stations for congee and radish cake all for only P788++, no need to wait eons in line for cramped seating and mediocre dimsum.

Phat Pho Manila

Serendra Plaza, McKinley Parkway
Fort Bonifacio Global City
Taguig, Philippines
Telephone No.: (632) 804-1646

The Moment Group brings Phat Pho to Manila serving their tasting Vietnamese fare. The Pho might be the default option but the Com Chien (fried rice) is a wonderful surprise. I’m glad they replaced their bar stools with more comfortable seating and the crowd seems to agree.

I had two opposite experiences at Vask, one was super amazing whilst the other super bad! I still need to try Duck & Buvette though!

you should definitely try Duck and Buvette. Great value, we’ve been there almost 10 times with countless orders of the maple bacon demolished.
