The Function Rooms at Active Fun

October 22, 2013 by Richard

Like me, many of you may be surprised to learn of the presence of The Function Rooms at the Active Fun Bldg. I used to think that it was filled with shops for kids anchored by the Active Fun play place. A quick elevator ride to the 2nd floor and you’ll be ushered into different sized function rooms that can be modified depending on your needs.

The Functions Rooms are a complete event provider from the location, decor, seating arrangement and food, which is handled by sister company, Connoisseur Catering. The place is run by the same family that owns Casa Armas.

The can do setups for business or cocktails, formal or semi formal occasions, they can do it all.

We were served a few appetizers like the one above. The presentation and the taste was a surprise to me. I quite enjoyed the juicy scallops with a mango and caviar sauce.

To showcase the capabilities of their food arm, Connoisseur Catering, we were served a five course menu. An amuse bouche of Pate de Foie gras started the meal. Smooth and creamy with strong foie gras flavors.

The next course, Yogurt Infused Two Toned US Apples topped with micro greens, served to clean the palette of the pate. Artistically assembled, with julienned green and red apple skins peeking out. A bit sweet and tarty with lots of nice crunchy textures.

The Prawn Phyllo with Tomato Chermoula sauce was a bit perplexing to eat without making a bit of a mess. You’ll have to slice the prawns and

Porcini Mushroom Soup with White Truffle Oil. Creamy and earthy that’s thickened by mixing it the foam. The truflle oil is not too overpoweringly distracting in this rendition.

The main course was a Rosemary Crusted Lamb Chop in Pinot Noir Reduction. Tender lamb meat is enhanced by the flavors of the herb, complimented by the smooth red wine sauce.

The dessert was a 6 hour slow baked Quezo de bola cheesecake. Not to be biased here but it can’t compare to my wife’s Quezo de bola cheesecake.

Looking for a hassle free venue for your meetings or special occasions? You have to  consider doing it at The Function Rooms, food and decor is great with lots of parking all around also.

Now it makes sense why they serve good food. Our company used to book their function rooms for events and one of the dishes that really stuck was their palabok. It was really good.
