*Updated with links to the Meralco Online App*
Do you find your electric bill too high but don’t know how to cut down on your consumption.
The new Meralco Appliance Calculator (M.A.C.) can help you do just that and more. The MAC has been a part of Meralco’s website since 2003 but this new version has more features and enhancements that will help all their consumers out there including me.
Meralco launched the new MAC at an event hosted by Michi and Marie Calica held at the Meralco Theatre Lounge. A select group of bloggers, me included were walked though all the new features.
The goal of the MAC is to help residential consumers
- Better manage their electric consumption and their electricity bill
- Make wiser decisions in choosing home appliances
- Get home energy efficiency tips tailored to there respective usage pattern
The MAC is divided into two(2) parts, the “My Appliance Calculator” and the “My Bill Manager”
The appliance calculator is a simplified way for checking what appliances contribute to our electricity bills. There are different tabs that include the most common appliance found in our homes.
The bill manager is a more robust part where in the consumer can input each and every appliance in a certain household and see how much and how expensive it is to run that certain appliance.
The consumption manager shows the corresponding electric consumption in a pie chart with a text listing of the 3 biggest contributors.
The energy efficiency adviser gives tips to the user to help save on energy costs as well as help in choosing future purchases.
And finally the target bill estimator is a tool that will help consumers estimate mow many kilowatt hours they need to consume to hit a target monthly bill amount.
The MAC can be access through the Meralco Online App (IOS, Android) and can also be emailed and shared thru Twitter and Facebook to your friends to let them know about the new consumer tool. Users can also print results for future reference as well as find out the basis for the computation thru the “formula” button.
