After the eye-opening trip to the Muslim side of Quiapo, we hoofed it over to the church side.
Our first stop was Master Hopia Factory, a shop selling only hopia that started in the 1960s and is still going strong until now.
Their hopia are smaller than the ones I’m used to. The outer covering was quite flaky and the monggo was just sweet enough. I can’t say the same for the pineapple, it was too sweet, maybe I should have gotten another flavor.

Next stop, Excellente Ham, a store so popular that during Christmas time, the lines would reach the streets.
I loved their cooked ham, it was so meaty yet tender almost melting in the mouth. The sweet glazed sauce was just a bonus. Now I know why people line up for this, wish there was a branch near us since Quaipo is quite far away
