Tokyo Tokyo is ending the year with a big bang with their new line of Chicken Katsu. These are as big as my hand so you can imagine how filling they are paired with a bowl of piping hot rice. Each order of Chicken Katsu comes with a unlimited rice and a side salad and is available in 3 variants, Original (P169), Asian Spice (P169) and Teriyaki (P179).
The Asian Spice and Original both come with tonkatsu sauce because people just love sauce even though the flavors are already there. The original has the usual tonkatsu flavor so I’ll not recommend it unless it’s for kids who have an aversion to sauce like Lauren. The Asian spice has tasty flavors of pepper and a special mix of other spices designed to simulate the taste buds.
My hands down favorite is the Teriyaki because you know me, I just can’t resist sweet flavored food. The genius in this one is that it’s not all sweet because they’ve sprinkled this with Asian Spice before applying the teriyaki sauce for a better mix of flavors. The spicy kick makes you eat even more rice and avoids any cloying taste from too much sweetness.
Look at how thick the chicken meat is, they use a whole breast fillet for the boneless Chicken Katsu. Don’t you just hate full on concentrating on eating piece after piece then hitting a piece of bone, no such problems here.
Want to make your meal even better then kick it up with the Classic Upgrade (P55) for an additional miso soup, red iced tea and dessert or the California Maki Upgrade (P55) for 4 pieces of California maki and red iced tea.
