I have fond childhood memories of Tokyo Tokyo, going to the nearest branch after school for a snack of potato balls and red iced tea. They have continued to innovate and recently added 2 new rice bowls to their donburi offerings. Aptly called Premium donburi, the Tempura Donburi and the Beef Pepper Donburi are hefty and filling.
The Tempura Doburi (P145) will appeal to tempura lovers with it’s two pieces of prawns, onion rings and potatoes. Crushed tempura batter, green onions and a sweet and savory sauce are added to give different flavors and added textures. The tempura is perfectly fried, not oily and still very crunchy even with the sauce. It does not come with unlimited rice but you can just add P20 to upgrade but the amount is already more than enough to fill you up to the brim.
The Beef Pepper Donburi (P145) is the one that will appeal to kids even if there’s a slight pepper taste. The sea of corn kernels will draw them in like they did me.
Beef strips are cooked in a light pepper sauce and partnered with generous amounts of Japanese sweet corn. I suggest you mix it up so you get a blend of beef, sauce and corn in every spoonful.
